독일 출신의 레게 팝 그룹 굼베이 댄스 밴드는 1980년대 초반 한국에서 'Sun Of Jamaica', 'Eldorado', 'Rain'등을
연속해서 히트시키며 유럽 최고의 댄스 그룹으로 각광받았었다.
밴드의 리더인 '올리버 벤트(본명: Jorg Knoch)'는 피아노와 바이올린 등의 악기를 배우면서 뮌휀에서 성장하였고
영화 배우였던 아버지의 영향으로 아역 배우로 몇편의 독일 영화에 출연하였다. 그가 출연한 영화를 살펴보면
1955년에 개봉한 영화 'Konigswalzer'과 1956년에 개봉한 'Weil du arm bist, musst du fruher sterben'등이 있다.
이어서 발표한 'Ring Ting Ting', 'Aloha-Oe'. 'Eldorado'등의 싱글을 계속해서 히트시킨 굼베이 댄스 밴드는 1980년에 데뷔 음반
'Land Of Gold'를 발표하여 인기를 재확인 하였다.

데뷔 음반은 'Moonlight Flower'라는 곡과 프로젝트 그룹 '이니그마(Enigma)'로 유명한 '마이클 크레투(Michael Cretu)'가 키보드 연주를
담당해 주었으며 나머지 파트도 밴드의 멤버들이 아닌 스튜디오 세션 뮤지션들이 담당하였다.

한국에서도 굼베이 댄스 밴드는 많은 사랑을 받았는데 'Sun Of Jamaica'를 비롯하여'Rain', 'Seven Tears'등이 히트를 하였다.
특히 그 중에서도 'Eldorado'는 가장 많은 사랑을 받았던 곡으로 굼베이 댄스 밴드를 대표하는 곡인 동시에 디스코텍과 롤러 스케이트장의 스피커를 점령했었던 곡이었다.
